Air Rifle Safety
Air rifles are a fun hobby to have by all accounts. They are inexpensive, their pallets are easily available, they do not incite controversy and they get the job done. Many air rifle reviews will tell you how much of a resource they are to have. But much like all things, especially weapons, there are a few things you need to keep in consideration so thing do not get out of hand and you do not end up hurting someone, or yourself, unintentionally. Here are some of the safety rules you need to learn by heart before dealing with air rifles:
- Do not point the muzzle at people.
When the gun is not in use, make sure that its muzzle is not pointed towards yourself or anyone else. These type of accidents are common and regretted the most. You do not want to hurt yourself or the people around you.
- Always assume that the gun is loaded
There have been instances where people though it was safe to pull the trigger because the gun wasn’t loaded, spoiler alert, it’s not. Sometimes, pallets can get lodged in the gun and you wouldn’t have any way to tell, pulling the trigger at this point will dislodge them.
- Keep an eye on your trajectory
Before firing your gun, it is best to check not only your target but what’s beyond it. So in case you miss, or the pallet goes through your target, you might not end up hitting something or someone that you don’t want to.
- Stay behind the shooter.
This one is a bit obvious but important none the less. Everyone in the vicinity should stay behind the shooter at all times. This will ensure your safety and made sur you do not end up in the line of fire.
